Installation for an opera
Shown at Stadsschouwburg, Groningen, Netherlands, 1985.
|A virtual projection installation created the illusion of looking through the theatre entrance doors at fictional scenes situated in the real space outside the theatre. The installation used the same augmented-reality technology that was first applied in Viewpoint (Paris, 1975). Placed in a row in a corridor, four optical windows presented the virtual situations as a changing sequence as the visitors walked past. The retro-reflective projection screens covered the glass surfaces of the two sets of swing doors - these doors were also made to open and close during the projection cycle.||Related works:|
